[Title] => CPA fire: Case closed
but can it be reopened?
[Summary] =>
The huge fire that gutted the warehouse of the Cebu International Port (CPA) last July 31 where an estimated P100 million worth of government and private property went up in smoke was ruled as "accidental" by a task force of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). It was caused by faulty electrical wiring, according to a SunStar report last Wednesday.

[Title] => Fraud, fraud and more fraud!
[Summary] => Did I hear over DyAB former Cebu Customs Collector Billy Bibit attacking Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA) for cheating in the last elections? Wait! A couple of months ago, I recall, asking Mr. Bibit for an explanation as to why a luxurious BMW 645 C was running around in Cebu with an 8-plate number and we only got a deafening silence from him. People like Mr. Bibit have no right to throw stones when he also lives in a glass house!

[Title] => Davide: More provinces, more dynasties
[Summary] => If you think that the Buak-Sugbo campaign to break Cebu Province into four separate provinces Cebu del Norte, Cebu del Sur, Cebu Occidental and the present Cebu province is dead in the water, think again. Congressmen belonging to the second, third and fourth district of Cebu are still working feverishly to assure their political families that come election time, they can run for elective positions even if they are now prevented by the Constitution to seek another term.

[Title] => Moro-moro at the Cebu Customs office?
[Summary] => Its almost a week since we saw that beautiful BMW 645 Ci sports coupe in Cebu City. However, this vehicle has since been garaged, hidden and kept from public view. Im certain that the owner may have been embarrassed by our expose. Last Friday night, we met with Rep. Raul del Mar and he told me that he doesnt own that vehicle because he certainly could not afford one. But today, Cebuanos are still guessing as to who owns the brand new BMW 645 Ci with an "8" plate.

[Title] => How serious are we in fighting corruption?
[Summary] => How serious is the Arroyo administration in running after tax evaders? Last Friday, it seems that there was an effort to test GMAs resolve by the filing of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) of tax evasion charges against many prominent people or celebrities, and perhaps the biggest fish in the BIR net is actor Richard "Goma" Gomez.

[Title] => Mike Arroyo denies hand in Bibit transfer
[Summary] => First Gentleman Mike Arroyo has denied that he had anything to do with the recent appointment of Billy Bibit as Cebu Customs district collector.
"He is not, and has never been connected to me in any way. I have nothing to do with his appointment as Cebu Customs chief," Arroyo said in a letter to The STAR.
Arroyo was referring to a Freeman report that talks were rife within the Bureau of Customs that Bibit was allegedly close to Arroyo who might have a hand in his appointment.
"Mr. Bibit is just an acquaintance," Arroyo said.
