[Title] => Wha-cha gonna do when there aint no jazz: The best music of 2006
[Summary] =>
For this column, there really is no other way to conclude the year but to cite the past 12 months best music. The list this year is considerably shorter but that does not at all reflect our enthusiasm for Pinoy Rock 2006. Like last year, there was so much good local music released this year that we barely had time to listen to anything else. But therein lies the rub.

[Title] => Black market music
[Summary] => Has anyone noticed how much better local music is today? It seems that now, more than ever we are hearing the benefits of musicians being able to record decent albums at home as well as having access to music around the world through the Internet. This observation particularly hit home when I had to act as cultural attaché and escort around town some friends from the art scene (I pronounce the word "art" with a British accent for no apparent reason) in New York. Feeling it my patriotic duty, I didnt hesitate to play the willing tour guide.

[Title] => Allow us a few words to offend you
[Summary] => The whole uproar sparked by a column by fellow critic and colleague Igan D Bayan a couple of weeks ago in his review of Up Dharma Down certainly brings a smirk to those of us in the business of being critics. Text messages flew fast and furious denouncing D Bayan and his quips about certain bands and the popular music hangout Saguijo in Makati.
