During graduation season, it has been the OBMC tradition that of each school level: Casa (preschool), grade school and professional high school would make a speech. But for preschool we usually ask a parent to contribute a “valedictory complement” as a witness of the transformation of their child during the preschool years.

Last week, Operation Brotherhood Montessori Center staged the musical spectacle “O Bayang Mahal” at Teatro Maximo in our school at Angeles City, as a tribute to its 50th cityhood anniversary. Pampanga Governor “Nanay” Lilia Pineda, Lubao Mayor Mylene P. Cayabyab, and Angeles City Mayor Ed Pamintuan were the special guests.

It was summer 2005 when Governor Vilma Santos Recto (then mayor of Lipa City) sent 15 DSWD Day Care workers to train for the OB Pagsasarili preschool program at the O.B. Montessori headquarters in Greenhills, San Juan. Gov. Vilma and her husband, Ralph Recto decided to provide a quality preschool program for the city of Lipa and agreed to use the OB Pagsasarili preschool program in the city under the coordination of then DSWD head Tess Pesa.
