Pinahigpit ng Saudi Arabia ang security at immigration procedures sa konteksto ng ‘war of terror’ ng Estados Unidos kaya naapektuhan ang mga OFWs.
Daan-daang OFWs din aniya ang stranded sa mga siyudad sa Riyadh, Jeddah at Al-Khobar. Ang mga nasabing OFWs ay tumakas umano sa kanilang mga abusadong employer kung kaya’t wala silang mga "igama" o work permits at pasaporte.
