[Title] => Implementation of Biofuels Act pushed
[Summary] =>
The Philippine Biodiesel Association (TPBA) is pushing for the immediate implementation of Republic Act 9367 or the Biofuels Act.
TPBA convenor Cris Michelena said there is no need to delay the laws implementation as this will only spell "weakness" in the law.
The government is now finalizing the implementing rules and regulations of the new law.
Michelena said any delay would also signal impediments on the industrys effort to help in the issue of "climate change".

[Title] => Senate bill on 1% minimum biofuel blend for diesel products pushed
[Summary] => The Philippine Biodiesel Association (TPBA), an advocacy group, has called for the immediate passage of a Senate bill that will mandate a one-percent Philippine National Standard (PNS)-compliant coco-biodiesel blend in all diesel fuel for sale in the country.
Senate Bill 2159 currently mandates a five-percent bioethanol blend with gasoline within two years.
Recent United States findings indicate that noxious diesel emissions are 7.5 times more cancerous than other air pollutants.

[Title] => Angara files bill mandating pre-blending of coconut methyl diesel fuel
[Summary] => Sen. Edgardo Angara has filed a bill calling for the mandatory blending of coconut methyl ester (CME) into diesel fuel in order to help clean up motor vehicle emissions.
Under the proposed bill, CME would initially comprise one percent of the total volume of the coco-biodiesel mix.
Angara said several studies have shown that the pre-blending of CME into diesel is a cost-effective solution to complying with the smoke emission standards outlined in the Clean Air Act (Republic Act 8749).
