Bingo Merriex has been tapped to replace Carlos Wheeler, who played only one game in the league’s transition tourney.


Merriex, a former Texas Christian University mainstay, debuts against the Sta. Lucia Realtors at 4:45 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena tomorrow.

Cooke underwent a surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital last night to repair the damaged left ankle he suffered in the third quarter of the Purefoods-Coke tiff at the Araneta Coliseum. Attending physician Raul Canlas said the player would be out for at least six months.

But Ginebra didn’t have a hard time looking for a replacement in former Texas Christian University standout Bingo Merriex who has just finished his commitment with the Blue Stars ballclub in the Lebanon league.
