[Title] => Three crosses
[Summary] => They crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Luke 23:33
In many paintings of the crucifixion of Jesus, the center cross on which He hung is taller or higher on a hill than the other two. We can appreciate an artists desire to give Christ a place of preeminence, but we have no reason to believe that Jesus was given an elevated or exalted position higher than that of the two thieves. Those who crucified Jesus considered Him to be a common criminal, so the crosses were most likely on the same level.

I read about an Australian woman who developed a craving for paper. She began her unusual diet as a child, and as she grew older she ate as many as 10 tissues and a half page of the newspaper every day. The woman had also consumed small quantities of blotting paper, sheets from exercise books, and petty cash vouchers.

I read about a Detroit man who couldnt find his house. He had gone to the right address but all he found was an empty lot. Completely baffled, he asked the Detroit Free Press to help him figure out what was going on. A newspaper reporter learned that not only was the house gone, but the deed to the empty lot was in someone elses name.

Within a chip slot of our house is a golf course. When I stand in my backyard, I see ponds waiting hungrily for my next errant shot. At times I can imagine sandtraps and trees joking about my bad days.
I mention the sport with mixed feelings. I like the golf occasionally, but living so close to the course reminds me of my failures in playing the game, which has its disadvantages.
