[Summary] => As a boy, one of the good things that we remember about the past is that all communities had neighborhood policemen. Everybody knew the policeman and if they were going out on a vacation, the house owner would tell the policeman to keep a closer watch on their homes during their absence. At that time, policemen came from the community that they served.

Army Maj. Gen. Dionisio Santiago, chief of the 3,000-strong Task Force Libra, said only a "few hundred" troops remain on standby in various military installations in Metro Manila to prevent the recurrence of the Labor Day riots.
