Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the quake occurred at 4:26 p.m. The epicenter is located 34 kilometers northwest of Boac.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in Boac, Intensity 3 in Batangas, and Intensity 2 in Lipa City.
Solidum said the earthquake was caused by movement at the eastern segment of Lubang Fault.
There were no recorded aftershocks, Solidum added.
