Members of the Makati Traffic Enforcement Unit (MTEU) arrested  14 erring taxi drivers for refusing to take commuters during a recent operation conducted at the Makati Central Business District (CBD).


Senior Inspector Estela Lomat, MTEU chief, said the violators who are referred to as "choosy cab drivers" were apprehended for discrimination of passengers, overcharging and contracting, and refusal to convey passengers to their destination.

MTEU chief Senior Inspector Estela Lomat said the violators were rounded up in the city’s major thoroughfares from January to July.

"Oplan Bulag" is a special program of the MTEU, which requires motorists plying Makati roads to use headlights at night.

The program encourages both public and private motorists to turn on their lights so that pedestrians and other motorists could see them.
