Under the law (Article 1729, Civil Code), the supplier of materials and laborers has a cause of action against the owner of the building or piece of work where the materials (and labor) are used even if it is not the owner who purchased the materials but the contractor of said owner. This cause of action subsists so long as any amount remains owing from the owner to the contractor.
