[Title] => Drawing from the wells of Divine Mercy
[Summary] =>
The word ‘enemy’ conjures a lot of images. The most common image is war. The most difficult wars maybe are those that are fought in the home front. Husband versus wife, children versus parents. Outside the home front there are hard-fought battles among politicians, management against labor. A thousand and one issues and there we have a thousand and one enemies.

[Title] => Promise of a second coming
[Summary] =>
What is the second coming of the Lord to us a promise or a warning? We live on the promise of Jesus that He will come again, not as a newly-born babe in a poor animals manger one cold midnight in Bethlehem. Yes, the people chosen by God to prepare for His coming did not recognize Him. How could they?

[Title] => The great Epiphany
[Summary] => Children here in the Philippines love the story of the so-called "Three Kings". Especially families have imbibed the Spanish custom of having three men dress as Kings, riding royally bedecked horses into a place where children with their parents await them. The "Three Kings" distribute gifts to them.

[Title] => The Filipino persistence in prayer
[Summary] => The devotee on his or her knees, covering the whole length of the aisle from the entrance to the sanctuary with rosary in the right hand and a lighted candle in the left is a common sight in our Philippine churches and shrines. The pilgrims who never fail to attend the Mass novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Baclaran how long have they been faithfully at this devotion?

[Title] => Total commitment
[Summary] => How conscious are we of the distance that lies between what creatures are in themselves and what God is in Himself? Thats hard to come by if we are full of ourselves. Where is our position with regard to our consciousness of God? Have we become a big somebody, a public figure making people know our bloated identity, telling our big name to an admiring crowd? Or have we been diminishing quite as fast as God has been increasing in our consciousness?

[Title] => Extrinsic religion
[Summary] => One of our challenges as a nation is to really be Christian, and not just in name. In todays Gospel incident, Jesus tells us how in no uncertain terms (Mk. 9: 38-41).
The apostle John had to learn his lesson early. He thought he was being faithful to Christ by doing what he was doing. "Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us." Exclusiveness! Extrinsic religion!

[Title] => Bold stars for Christ
[Summary] => To be a bold star for Christ! This is the challenge of todays Gospel message, Mk. 6:7-13. It started with the twelve star-apostles. Jesus sent them in pairs to preach and teach the way to God and Gods ways healing broken hearts and bodies as well. Their main equipment for spreading the Good News was to be their very own persons converted to the love, compassion, and justice of God. In all this, Jesus led the way. He lived what he preached. And this meant boldness of spirit.

[Title] => Unrestricted charity of Christ
[Summary] => A most touching incident was witnessed when Pope John Paul II visited Tala Leprosarium during the papal visit to the Philippines in 1981. He blessed and embraced the lepers, knelt to kiss the leper in a gesture of loving compassion. It was Christ all over again, repeating His cleansing of a leper who came and knelt before Him saying, "If you wish, you can make me clean" (Mk 1:40). It is recounted that Jesus was moved with pity, and stretching out His hand, touched the leper saying, "I do will it. Be made clean." And the leprosy left him immediately.
