[Title] => The flame that grips me
[Summary] => On most Sundays when traffic is not as bad as on normal weekdays, I drive the few kilometers down to the old homestead in Diliman to visit mother as well as exchange rickety cars. Rule of thumb is that there should always be a vintage karag-karag car parked in the carport, underneath the awning of peeling plywood. It doesn’t matter if one or the other is regularly at the shop for various repairs, the years of wear and tear have made it necessary that the vehicles, both hand me downs, be alternated in the hope of lessening trips to the mechanic.

[Title] => Lost & safe on Valero Street
[Summary] => Valero Street in Makati is mostly one-way beginning at the corner of Dela Costa near the gasoline station, until the last few meters where it becomes two-way, in which stretch is located the Fraser Place Serviced Residences, in whose mezzanine is Capones, a music bar probably named after the gangster of the prohibition era.
It is in Capones where the band Rivermaya held its thanksgiving party on a Tuesday in February, having just arrived from the MTV Asia Awards in Bangkok, Thailand, where we were told they ran away with Favorite Artist-Philippines award.

[Title] => The voice of Rivermaya
[Summary] => Well alright, Bamboo may long have departed but that doesnt mean that the band Rivermaya has lost its voice. Some hardcore Rivermaya fans may have had reason to be upset about a review of Bamboos As the Music Plays, where the latest edition of Rivermaya (version 4, actually) was scarcely given passing mention as if it were merely an adjunct of Bamboo, and not the other way around, and they wondered why was I pitting the two bands against each other as if they were fighting cocks?
