[Title] => EDITORIAL How to lose 23 cases
[Summary] =>
Perhaps it was a case of out of sight, out of mind. Perhaps government prosecutors and those tasked to run after ill-gotten wealth were overwhelmed by work. [Title] => Japanese envoys call off hunt for Imperial Army soldiers
[Summary] => GENERAL SANTOS CITY Japanese envoys seeking out two Japanese World War II soldiers allegedly hiding in the jungle on the outskirts of this city are ready to pull out after a failed search, officials said yesterday.
The plan to withdraw was announced amid contradictory reports and growing doubts about the truth of a story about two Japanese "stragglers," supposedly now in their 80s, wanted to emerge from hiding, 60 years after the war in the Pacific ended.

[Summary] => CEBU (AFP) A treasure hunter looking for Japanese World War II booty was found dead in Tuburan town last Wednesday, five days after he entered a submerged riverbank cave, officials said.
Nicodemo Yntong dived into the cave last Friday in search of a Buddha statue believed to have been buried by Japanese soldiers during the war, district official Editho Montecalvo said.
Yntongs brother and a friend had accompanied him to the site, but decided not to follow him into the cave.
