[Title] => The discipline of words
[Summary] => Let me acknowledge, first of all, the readers who responded to last week’s column, “Exercises for the Editorially Minded,” where I shared some exercises that I give my class in Professional Writing to help rid my students of their wordiness and show them how to say the same thing in different ways.

[Summary] => After its highly successful joint venture with the University of the Philippines for the development of a technohub in Quezon City, Ayala Land is now eyeing similar campus-type developments for the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector instead of big high-rise office spaces.

[Title] => What keeps us going?
[Summary] =>
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.  Philippians 1:21
Isaac Asimov tells the story of a rough ocean crossing during which a Mr. Jones became terribly seasick. At an especially rough time, a kindly steward patted Jones on the shoulder and said, "I know, sir, that it seems awful. But remember, no man ever died of sea-sickness." Mr. Jones lifted his green countenance to the steward’s concerned face and replied, "Man, don’t say that! It’s only the wonderful hope of dying that keeps me alive."

[Title] => What would you like written on your EPITAPH?
[Summary] => It was tough to get people to answer today’s question. It seems that when the topic is death, they would rather not think about it – much less talk about it. Of course, no matter what we do, we can never escape the reality of death – we will join our creator up there if we were good down here (if we were bad, well, that’s another interesting story).
