[Title] => Region-7 barangays undergo procurement reform training
[Summary] => About 98 percent of the 3,003 barangays in Central Visayas have been trained for the last six months on the government's procurement reforms and innovations towards a graft-free bureaucracy, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government regional director Roberto Abejero.
Abejero said the training program was in line with Republic Act 9184, otherwise known as the Government Procurement Reform Act of 2003, which, he added, will be fully implemented in all barangays in the region by the end of 2006.

[Title] => Boncodin defends G-EPS bidding
[Summary] => Waving aside criticisms from losing bidders, Budget Secretary Emilia Boncodin declared that the awarding of the P244-million Government Electronic Procurement System (G-EPS) to a foreign-led consortium was transparent, done according to the rules and executed in good faith.
In an exclusive interview with NetWorks, Boncodin expressed disappointment over how losing bidders have resorted to moves apparently to pressure her office into reversing its decision.

[Title] => Senate OKs bill overhauling govt procurement, bidding
[Summary] => The Senate approved on third reading on Monday night a landmark anti-corruption bill which, Sen. Edgardo Angara said, is expected to arrest the reported P22-billion annual loss in government funds due to fraud-ridden state procurement procedures, biddings and awards.
The Government Procurement Act, according to Angara, its principal sponsor, represented "the biggest and the boldest initiative ever taken by the Senate to help stamp out the menace of official corruption."
