The front-page of today’s paper should be reporting what became of that effort.
Today, lightning rallies are planned in about a dozen locations around the metropolis, including Plaza Roma, the Welcome Rotonda and Mendiola. A noise barrage is set for this evening.

[Summary] => It is ironic that the first days of Congress are devoted to getting started as the National Board of Canvassers for the presidential and vice presidential elections. One of the results is that we see senators debating with congressmen. The truth is that the public has already been conditioned to seeing both houses as investigating bodies rather than law-making institutions. The excuse, of course, is that the investigations are in aid of legislation. We don’t recall a time when mass media was totally focused on congress. It is the best coverage that they have ever enjoyed.

[Summary] => The general impression of the public is that the canvassing and proclamation of the elections is unduly delayed. Actually the National Canvassing Board has till June 30 to make the proclamation and it is only June 5th. Also, there is no suspense as the election winners are already known. Undoubtedly, there are people who are trying to delay the canvassing of votes and the proclamation of the winners in the pre-sidential and vice presidential elections. But it will be an exercise in futility. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Noli de Castro will be proclaimed on or before June 30.
