The Sandiganbayan yesterday granted Charlie "Atong" Ang’s motion to seek medical treatment at Metropolitan Medical Center in Sta. Cruz, Manila on April 16 because of chest pain.


In yesterday’s hearing of the anti-graft court’s Special Division, Presiding Justice Teresita Leonardo de Castro allowed Ang to be brought out and leave his detention cell at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig at 7 a.m.

The Sandiganbayan justice also ordered Ang to be brought back to his detention cell at 5 p.m. of the same day, April 16.

In a five-page motion filed before the Sandiganbayan Special Division on April 11, Ang’s legal team led by Alfredo Villamor and Ruth Castelo said that from Ang’s last medical examination on March 9 at the MMC, it was found that he has hypertension that may be essential or secondary to nephrosclerosis.
