[Title] => San Agustin Museum: Repository of enduring friendship
[Summary] => Art and religion not only complement each other; they are inseparable. I came to realize this even more as my childhood friends (Colegio San Agustin Makati Grade School Batch 80) Rita Saguin-Trinidad, Marissa Prats-Garcia, Trish Tiongson, Pamela Sarile, Antonio Pastor and I recently toured the San Agustin Museum in Intramuros, Manila upon the invitation of its curator Fr. Pedro G. Galende, OSA to view the "Amistad Duradera" (Enduring Friendship), an exhibit on the fifth birth centenary of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, the founder of Manila.

[Title] => Milestones
[Summary] => Spanish-born Fr. Pedro G. Galende, who acquired Filipino citizenship in 1975, will mark his golden jubilee as an Agustinian priest with a concelebrated Mass tomorrow at San Agustin Church.
Fr. Galende has spent the major part of his life in the Philippines, having arrived here in 1962. For highlighting, through the years, Spains cultural and religious legacy to the Philippines, thereby cementing the bond of friendship between the two countries, Fr. Galende was recently given the Isabel la Catolica award by the Spanish government through Ambassador Ignacio Sagaz.

[Title] => San Agustin Church loses 300-year-old Niño image
[Summary] => A gold image of the child Jesus cuddled by the Our Lady of Consolation and Correa at the historic San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila was stolen in broad daylight last week.
After hiding in the confessional, the thieves reportedly tiptoed their way up the altar and then casually walked out of the church with precious parts of the disassembled image stashed in their pockets.
Church officials, fearing that the valuable image may have been sold to collectors, are appealing that it be returned.
