With her crown seemingly shining steadily on her head, 22-year-old Quigaman is - without reservations or inhibitions - willing to tell all and sundry of what was life like to her in the past.

Long before she dreamt of becoming a beauty queen, Quigaman was at first a “palengke queen." At the young age of three, she proved that she could be a delight in people's lives, particularly to those who saw her sitting silently in one corner of her mother Precy's carinderia in Agora market in San Juan, Manila. While customers were fussing over her, Quigaman was quietly and busily making balloons out of the small plastic bags her mother used for selling pancit.
