Last Saturday, we finally announced the winners of the First Philippine Graphic/Fiction Awards. Fully Booked threw a big bash at the Rockwell Tent and – all in all – there was a lot to be cheerful about. On our part, it was the presence at the awards ceremony of writer Gregorio C. Brillantes, after whom the award for short prose fiction was named.

Ballard has suggested, it is the true literature of the 20th century and the only one that decided to take it head on, without blinking at its headlights. From H.G. Wells to Ray Bradbury to Gene Wolfe, Theodore Sturgeon to William Burroughs to Bruce Sterling, the best works of science-fiction or sf is the text of the nightmare logic of the times, serious fiction that was also barking mad.
