The government is intensifying its campaign to promote the Philippines as an ideal retirement destination.


The Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) headed by retired Gen. Edgar Aglipay and his team recently met with private companies in Japan to discuss their participation in marketing the Philippines as a location for their retired employees.

According to FMC chairman Fernando Francisco, "I am hopeful that action will now be taken."


He said that FMC’s case against Mazda is like "fighting a giant."


Francisco lamented  that the government is not giving "co-equal right" to the only Filipino participant in the Motor Vehicle Development Program (MVDP).

                    [Summary] => Francisco Motor Corp. (FMC) has signed a $150-million production agreement with US-based American Transport Systems Corp. (ATSC) to assemble Blue Bird bus chassis and body for the local and export markets, FMC chairman Fernando Francisco said yesterday.


Francisco said FMC decided to engage in other manufacturing activities to make use of its facilities that had been intended for the assembly of Ford model pick-ups and econovans.


"The production agreement with ATSC is a new lease on FMC’s life," he said.
