                    [Summary] => CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — City Mayor Rey Aquino was proclaimed as the newly elected congressman of the third district of Pampanga, the other day.


Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial officer Temy Lambino declared Aquino the winner in the three-cornered congressional fight at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Aquino, however, was proclaimed in absentia as he was out-of-town at the time. 


His campaign manager, Raul Ronquillo, received the certificate of votes from Lambino and thanked the mayor’s supporters for the huge victory.

                    [Summary] => CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Concerned citizens and leaders of winning candidates here have urged the Commission on Election (COMELEC) to speed up the proclamation of winners.


This, as losing candidates have allegedly hatched plans to stage protest rallies to delay the proclamation of winning candidates. 


Raul Ronquillo, campaign manager of Mayor Rey Aquino who is leading by a wide margin in the Namfrel-PPCRV quick count in the third district congressional race, said any further delay will only encourage unnecessary and potentially violent public disturbances.

                    [Summary] => CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Gov. Manuel Lapid said yesterday he would turn down the provincial board’s recommendation to suspend the mayor of Minalin town for 60 days over the alleged irregular purchase of handheld radios.


Lapid bared his position 14 days after seven provincial board members approved the recommendation of the justice committee headed by board member Ferdinand Labung, to suspend Mayor Edgar Flores. Board member Nestor Tolentino abstained from voting.
