[Title] => Little improvement seen in bank lending
[Summary] =>
Bank lending is not likely to grow substantially in the first three months this
year, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Felipe M. Medalla said yesterday.
"It will not be enough to attain the original two to three percent growth
target (in bank loans) for the first six months of the year," Felipe M. Medalla
told newsmen in a briefing.
Medalla said the demand for new loans still depends on the willingness of
commercial banks to extend credit despite a downward trend in Treasury bill
(T-bill) rates.
