[Summary] => After seven years of legal wrangling, a man and a woman accused of defrauding the government of up to P5.3 billion in taxes may finally go on trial soon after the Office of the Ombudsman granted immunity to two key witnesses, state prosecutors announced yesterday.
A major breakthrough was reached by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the Ombudsman’s prosecution arm, after Felix Chingkoe and his wife Rosita were granted immunity so they can be used by the government as key witnesses against Chingkoe’s brother, Faustino, and wife Gloria.

[Summary] => Finance Secretary Juanita Amatong ordered yesterday the full investigation of the tax credit scam involving One Stop Shop Tax Credit and Duty Drawback Center granting tax credits to importers.
Amatong also ordered all records and evidence stemming from the latest tax anomaly be turned over to Office of the Ombudsman for safekeeping. "I want to get to the bottom of this," Amatong said. "It was me who ordered that the records be locked up for safekeeping."
