Bernabe Concepcion turned the lights on for the Filipinos when he scored a unanimous decision over Joksan Hernandez of Mexico and won the WBC Youth super-bantanweight crown.


Concepcion, a very late inclusion in the Grand Finale card, was the clear winner. Referee Ed Kugler had it 96-93, Robert Hoyle 98-92 and Patricia Morse Jarman 96-93.

Concepcion was supposed to fight in the undercard of the Bobby Pacquiao-Hector Velasquez bout Thursday, but got a big break when he was included in the bigger card.

Morales has wrapped up an eight-week conditioning program in Los Angeles and is now all set to head back to Tijuana to begin the final phase of his preparation for the Nov. 18 showdown with Manny Pacquiao.

Morales also had some problems with his shoulder and right leg checked while he was in LA. A Mexican newspaper quoted Morales the other day as saying that "in little time they (doctors) left me like new."
