[Summary] => Marawi City — At least 12 municipalities in Maguindanao and six others in Lanao del Sur have been declared as calamity areas due to the destruction caused by flood and landslides triggered by tropical storm "Karen" last week.
Bainon Karon, social welfare secretary of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), said some 20,000 evacuees from the 18 municipalities are now receiving relief assistance from the local, regional and national governments.
The evacuees are housed in several school buildings in the affected areas.
