DAVAO CITY — Davao City 10-second drag racers Guillermo  Torres Jr. and Vanni Garcia are among the early favorites in races 8 and 9 of the Philippine Drag Racing Familysport (PDRF) competition to be held at the Manila Harbour Center this weekend.


Torres will be riding his Mitsubishi Evo IV while Garcia will vie aboard a Mirage Cyborg in what is considered to be among the toughest series of the PDRF.

Torres and Garcia are competing to break the Philippine record of 9.957 seconds held by Ken Kepner.

Torres posted the record-breaking performance in the recent 2006 Hot August Races at the quarter-mile Speed City Racetrack where he also captured the crown in the Quick VII drag racing championship.
