"He has had fever the past three days. The fever has not gone away so the family and his doctor have decided to bring him to a hospital," said Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, his eldest son.
Former journalist Ferdie Ramos, one of the elder Estrada’s media handlers, confirmed that pneumonia has affected "one-fourth" of the 67-year-old former actor’s lungs.

The physicians also said any malpractice law would accelerate health care cost and undermine patient-doctor relationship.
The PCP, the umbrella of the country’s organizations of specialists in internal medicine, in a manifesto said House Bill 4955 or the malpractice bill maligns and compromises the "art of healing" and would criminalize doctors’ blunders to the level of a hardened criminal.

Sixteen out of every thousand may seem a small number, but computed from the country’s population, this means a staggering 1.28 million Filipino males are suffering from COPD. In 20 years, COPD is projected to be one of the top diseases in developing countries like the Philippines.
