                    [Summary] =>

I don’t claim to be an expert on parenting, as I am quite a young parent myself, but I do know that there are certain things I want my children to know about life, and I believe that it is my duty to teach them these things.

Caimito must have made a terrific impression early on, because the tree found its way into many backyards by the 1950s, providing not only an attractive shade tree with two-toned colored leaves, but the fleshy sweet fruit we associate with the start of the scorching summer heat.

Though planning uses more of our logic than emotion, mapping out a person’s style somewhat employs a combination of both. Personal styling influences largely depend on my mood (hence the emotion kicking in) — something I’ve often mentioned to my Style Manila readers — but it’s only natural to assume that there is a sizable dose of planning involved in each styling activity.

Over the weekend, my family and I were blessed to be able to go to Baguio to serve in our community’s weekend retreat. Hubby gave a talk, and I shared about our mission experiences in Timor Leste. It was a fun experience for all of us, and despite my qualms about riding the bus with our two little ones, we had a great time bonding as a family. We even got to spend time with friends who also had their two kids with them at the retreat.

I can’t boil water.

Ok, that is not completely true. But it seems only fit that I use this statement when referring to my skills in the kitchen.

In just a few days' time, my family and I will be on our way to Manila. It has been over three years since we were all in the Philippines. It has been much longer than that since all of my immediate family were in the same country.

Early this year, it would have been an impossibility to plan a Manila trip and a big family reunion. But due to some changes in circumstances, we were lucky enough to have this opportunity.

Never mind the traffic, pollution and the humidity. I'd like to think that there's really a lot more to look forward to than to fret about when it comes to visiting the good ol' homeland.
