President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has named Deputy Director General Avelino Razon, Jr. as the new head of the Philippine National Police. 

A Palace official confirmed Arroyo's declaration during a business forum in Iligan City.

On hearing of this, Razon thanked Pres. Arroyo for appointing him and promised to finish the programs started by current PNP chief General Oscar Calderon.
