FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City - The Philippine Military Academy officially accepted 277 plebes or freshmen cadets, including 36 females, after recognition rites yesterday.
The 277 cadets, who began their cadet training last April 1, comprised the Masidlak Class of 2010, PMA spokesman Air Force Capt. Dennis Solomon said.
"Masidlak stands for Madirigmang Sibol ng Dakilang Lahing Kayumanggi.
Last Friday, upperclassmen subjected the plebes to a test of physical and mental endurance in front of their parents at Borromeo Field.

[Summary] => BAGUIO CITY More than 700 hopeful entrants to the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), the premier military training institution in the country and in Asia, passed the entrance examinations conducted last Aug. 27.
All 736 successful examinees will undergo a series of tests, after which 300 of them will be selected to comprise PMA Class 2011, said Air Force Capt. Dennis Solomon, PMA spokesman.

In a statement, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) chief said that NPAs are reportedly active in Nasugbu, Batangas and nearby towns of Rosario, Calatagan, San Jose, Balayan, Lian, Lobo, Taysan, San Juan and the cities of Batangas and Lipa.
A total of 14 barangays are classified as NPA-affected, in which six are infiltrated and eight are threatened areas.
