PINGYAO CITY, North China – It’s freezing cold here in the winter of north China’s Shanxi province and I’m at a loss for ideas to share this New Year here at the Internet cafe of a small elegant hotel in this ancient walled city of Pingyao. Thanks to Philippine STAR reader Darlyn Ty for her holiday greetings and for sharing with me this wonderful e-mail on a literary piece by American poet Maya Angelou:
