The Lapu-Lapu City council has passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Arturo Radaza to accept the donation of a stainless water cannon nozzle and a battering ram donated by Keppel Cebu Shipyard Inc. for the SWAT team.

Councilor Alley Berdin introduced the resolution after Mayor Radaza requested them to grant him authority to accept the donation.

He said, however, that not all village chiefs will be issued firearms. Radaza would make an assessment of who should be allowed to carry firearms.

Some members of the council have proposed training for the village heads before the firearms are issued.
