NOT SO INNOCENT. The Ear again received reports of gambling in a barangay in Cebu City. The usual tigbakay or cockfight has now been replaced by volleyball. Gamblers from neighboring barangays would flock to the basketball/volleyball court of this urban barangay as evidenced by the numerous motorcycles parked near the court. The Ear informer said heavy betting goes on during these volleyball games, ranging from a few hundreds to thousands of pesos. A barangay resident who regularly bets on these games usually lose or win up to P5,000 per volleyball game. The informer said, “Kung tan-awon nimo, morag ordinaryo lang nga lingaw-lingaw. Gaduwa ra kunuhay sila’g volleyball pero dagko kaayo ang pusta aning mga duwaa.”
