[Summary] => My son graduated from grade school last week. Like most parents I felt nostalgic and sentimental. I remembered his first day in kindergarten six years ago. I wondered if he would make a lot of friends, I wondered if he would be scared. I wondered if he would cry being left alone. (FYI, he did better than me because I sure balled my eyes out during my first day in school). I was hopeful he would enjoy the journey. I was hopeful that he would learn.

This is a far cry from the $17 per barrel just five years ago.

A lot has changed but the basics of supply and demand are eternal. There has been an increased demand for oil and other commodities, mostly from the two emerging super powers: China and India. The populations of both countries represent close to 40 percent of the whole world. As the middle classes of these countries grow, so do their appetite for crude. These new yuppies now want to drive to their destinations instead of just walking or biking.
