The Office of the Vice President’s chief of staff denied a high-ranking Department of Education official due process before directing her to resign, following Vice President Sara Duterte’s instructions.

Vice President Sara Duterte declined to confirm the existence of "Mary Grace Piattos" at a press conference on Wednesday, November 20, saying she has not seen the documents where Piattos appears as one of the recipients of her office's confidential funds.

Millions of confidential funds were merely stored in duffel bags when they were withdrawn by special disbursing officers of the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education, state-owned bank authorities said.

The House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability is holding its sixth hearing today, November 20, on the alleged misuse of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education.

House lawmakers yesterday urged Vice President Sara Duterte and her aides in the Office of the Vice President to attend today’s hearing at the House of Representatives so they can shed light on the identity of “Mary Grace Piattos,” whose name appears in liquidation documents linked to the alleged misuse of OVP funds.
