[Title] => Kudos to the police for a great job, but…
[Summary] => The airwaves are abuzz these days discussing the citizenship of Sen. Grace Poe, whom Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) Associate Justice Antonio Carpio said was a "naturalized Filipino" and literally exposed himself as doing the bidding of former DILG Sec. Manuel "Mar" Roxas whose legal counsel is the so-called "Firm" where Justice Carpio was involved.

[Summary] => I had fun when I attended the Public Consultation by the Commission on Higher Education on the proposed use of Filipino in teaching the General Education Courses and the addition of Filipino as a Core Course at the Parklane Hotel last Tuesday morning.

[Title] => An independent body to study typhoon lapses
[Summary] => Perhaps because Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas announced last week that "The worst is over," it sort of sent a signal to the international relief community to wind down their operations and start packing to go home.

[Title] => From one blunder to another
[Summary] => Given the awesome power of the Commission on Elections as an independent constitutional body, perhaps, the Comelec en banc has discretion to thumb down the senatorial bid of former Cebu Governor Emilio “Lito” Osmeña for the 2010 elections.

[Title] => So Erap was lying after all!
[Summary] => Let's give credit where credit is due. The first person I know who originally peddled the idea of turning the entire Province of Cebu into a Special Economic Zone was former Cebu Governor Emilio "Lito" Osmeña. Now because this idea was given a new life by Mr. Francis Monera, the newly-elected President of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (CCCI) everyone wants to push this to fruition. Now whether this could become a reality or not depends largely on whether Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA) herself believes in this concept for Cebu or not.

[Title] => We get only the govt we deserve
[Summary] => The kidnap gangs have thrown the gauntlet down at President GMA. Theyre now kidnapping a victim practically every day. The abduction yesterday morning of a two-and-a-half-year-old pre-schooler in Muntinlupa is another incident in a mounting tsunami of kidnappings.
The countrys new anti-kidnapping chief, Secretary cum Ambassador and retired General Angelo T. Reyes has egg all over his face but no one, least of all this writer, is laughing at Reyes discomfiture and embarrassment. We are all alarmed.

[Title] => Cebu gubernatorial race: GMAs headache
[Summary] => Theres no doubt that the proverbial political kettle has heated up in the Presidential race when Fernando Poe Jr. announced his presidential bid, confirming the Star headline a few days ago. Of course, he previously hemmed and hawed, not a good sign of a person who should be President of the country.
