[Title] => Lina: We got jueteng big fish
[Summary] => Yes, a big fish has been caught.
Interior and Local Go-vernment Secretary Jose Lina Jr. said yesterday that a big-time jueteng lord was among the more than 6,000 people arrested since he renewed the governments crusade against the illegal numbers game last April.
Lina was reacting to a STAR story that claimed nothing substantial had been accomplished in the first 100 days of the campaign. It was reported that up to now, not a single big-time operator has been put in jail and the game continues to flourish in Metro Manila and in the provinces.

[Title] => CBCP slams GMA over death penalty
[Summary] => President Arroyo faced further flak yesterday for bringing back the death penalty and seeking the reversal of commuted death sentences, with the Catholics Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) denouncing her turnaround.
Also questioning the move was the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG), a volunteer organization whose members serve as lawyers for some of the death convicts.
FLAG lawyers warned that recalling commutation orders would be "unprecedented" and "unconstitutional" and could lead to Mrs. Arroyos impeachment.
