[Title] => Mercy, not sacrifice
[Summary] => Today’s Gospel appears to be quite self-evident – a father and two sons. Each son is asked to work in the father’s vineyard. One refuses, and then goes away. The other says, “Yes sir, it will be done,” but never does. Which of them was obedient?

[Title] => The lights of CICC
[Summary] =>
The CICC was formally lighted up last Wednesday night signaling its readiness for the big event next week. It was not the usual ribbon-cutting affair. Rather it was a light switching one, which to me was highly dramatic as it was symbolic. First, the whole edifice appeared as a faintly visible reality rising out of an open space bathed in darkness. Then suddenly when the lights were switched on the structure proclaimed itself in full grandeur, a phenomenon almost magical in size and splendor.

[Title] => The many faces of summer
[Summary] => When graduation songs resound in school campuses, when students grow excited as they plan their treks to beach resorts, and when teachers begin to feel lighthearted as the easy days of April and May near, we know summer is once again in our midst.
The heat of course is summer's unfailing prelude even as smiling sky and sparkling seas presage also its coming. Kalachuchis too as they explode in milky splendor send the same prophecy. All nature in fact connive with the first tender steps of the season - the chirping of birds, the rustling of breeze, the sloshing of waterfalls.

[Title] => The senior citizen
[Summary] => This came to me from a very good friend in the United States, a Jesuit, who is 84 years old:
"There are recent rumors that Julie Andrews did a concert for a group of senior citizens. She sang a favorite from the Sound of Music: Favorite Things. There were a few changes in the words, to suit the song to her audience. Here are the new words:
Maalox and eye drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
