[Title] => Philippines: A report card / Agassi, Williams triumph
[Summary] => It was one of the stories you light upon when reading a foreign publication, and even if you knew what it was all about, it still hurt like all-fired hell. There it was the headline of Business Asia (International Herald Tribune) Monday "investors give Philippine leader the thumbs down" Author William Pesek, Jr. (dont know him from Adam) wrote in the lead paragraph that the Philippines economy "has slid toward the brink". Reforms are badly needed, he said, but "bold reforms do not usually come from Philippine politicians."

[Title] => Why were losers III; Not forever, I hope
[Summary] => Since we are at it why were losers we might as well stretch the subject all the way. More and more critics are now taking dead aim at this columnist, more and more detractors. And thats just fine. Except that almost all are missing the point. We Filipinos are losers in the only game that really matters national survival. We are failing and failing miserably to extricate our nation from poverty and corruption. And its the kind of poverty thats our portrait to the world dire, dreadful, desperate, demonic.
