[Title] => Automated polls down to 15 areas
[Summary] => The Senate and the House of Representatives have agreed to approve a joint resolution limiting computerized elections in May 2004 to only 15 sites, as per recommendation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Sen. Teresa Aquino-Oreta, a member of the Senate panel that met with its House counterpart last week, said yesterday Congress is limiting the computerization of elections because the Comelec now lacks time to prepare for it.
Another major reason is the lack of funds to purchase the vote counting machines needed nationwide, she said.

[Title] => Principals back Oreta for Senate education body
[Summary] => Opposition Sen. Teresa Aquino-Oreta was endorsed yesterday by the Philippine Elementary School Principals Association for the chairmanship of the Senate education committee.
The endorsement is contained in a resolution the association sent to the Senate. The resolution is signed by the groups 18 directors led by Teresita Arriola.
The principals said they want Oreta to replace the late Sen. Renato Cayetano as education committee chairman because "she has full knowledge of the needs and problems of the educational system in the country."
