KORONADAL CITY — Police blamed a gun-for-hire syndicate for the gunslayings of five people, including two prominent businessmen, in nearby General Santos City in the past three weeks.

Senior Superintendent Alfredo Toroctocon, General Santos City police chief, said Salvador Ong, 37, owner of King Valley Hotel in Barangay San Isidro, and his companion, Arnold Bactang, 36, died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The two were gunned down in front of Ong’s house at Manansala Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro at about 1:20 a.m. Friday.
