Reyes is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class ’73.
Mrs. Arroyo has yet to appoint a new Armed Forces vice chief of staff following the retirement of Lt. Gen. Rodolfo Garcia.

[Summary] => The Philippine Air Force (PAF) will be acquiring "close to 50" military helicopters in the next 18 months to bolster its fight against insurgents and terrorist groups, Defense Secretary Eduardo Ermita said yesterday.
"By the end of (this) month, the initial batch of helicopters will be delivered. And by the middle of August this year, the first three Huey (UH-1H) helicopters from Singapore Technologies Aerospace will likewise be here," Ermita said at his keynote speech during the 57th PAF anniversary at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

[Summary] => Two Air Force pilots and a civilian worker on the ground were killed when an Italian-made SF-260 trainer plane crashed into the roof of a computer parts factory in Sto. Tomas, Batangas yesterday morning.
Initial reports said 10 other workers were rushed to the nearby St. Francis Cabrini Hospital for treatment of burns and injuries. One of them was in serious condition.

The confirmation of Mendoza came after the CA committee on transportation and communications headed by Quezon Rep. Rafael Nantes endorsed him on the very first hearing yesterday that took only about an hour to finish.
"It is one of the shortest confirmation hearings in committee history," admitted Nantes.
