[Title] => For the love of PGH
[Summary] => We believe in the ideals presented by the lines “Art for art’s sake” and “Beauty is its own excuse for being.” Yet, if the creation of beauty benefits the least of our brothers in their plight, then art has served a most lofty purpose, indeed.

[Title] => Starry, starry yearend nights
[Summary] => Inside and out, the Cultural Center of the Philippines was bedecked with the traditional parol for the Christmas season. The entablature at the CCP façade featured a cascade of white star lanterns which when lighted at night looked like a meteor passing by. At the lawn fronting the fountain were more white parols in varied sizes, installed on bamboo poles of varied heights. The holiday décor was stark and simple, yet it was very breathtaking and quite succinct in its cheerfulness and optimism that bright days are ahead for the coming year.

[Title] => A slice of Larry Alcala
[Summary] => His passing away was conveyed to me by another good friend and classmate, Araceli Dans, by phone, in Paris. I felt a stinging shock, as if something was blocking my breath, a gasping for air. I cannot convey the emotional invasion that grabbed me in a swirling of images that I suppose happens to people about to drown. I felt nostalgia gripping my senses, making me ask myself: How much did I deserve his fidelity and unfailing friendship for over half a century?
