[Title] => RP hopes to improve medal haul in Athens
[Summary] => A medal for every two Olympics.
Based on facts, this is the Philippines batting average when it comes to the number of participation and medals won in the quadrennial event. And the Filipinos hope to improve on this when they see action in Athens, Greece this August.
Since the Olympics began in 1896, the Philippines, a small nation with a big appetite for sports, has participated in a total of 17 times and only has nine medals tucked under its belt two silvers and seven bronzes.

[Title] => On-the-spot cash rewards in Busan
[Summary] => This time, Filipino medal winners in the Busan Asian Games in September wont have to wait long before they receive their cash incentives from the Philippine Sports Commission.
Eric Buhain, chairman o f the PSC, recently told The STAR that unlike in the past, the government sports agency will award the cash incentives to the medal winners during the games itself.
Buhain said the PSC, which will spend P30 million for the countrys actual participation to the quadrennial games, will allocate another P20 million as part of the incentives package.
