[Title] => Consumers group opposes tax on text
[Summary] => A militant consumers group opposed yesterday the proposal of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to tax text messaging to raise more revenues for the government.
Anthony Ian Cruz, spokesman of Txtpower, told the weekly Kapihan sa Cypress that they will be holding a series of mass protests actions to block the proposal.
The IMF last week proposed an excise tax on text messaging.
Cruz said that if this pushes through, the telecommunications companies would definitely pass on to cellphone users now estimated to number14 million.

[Title] => Palace: Give Mendoza a chance
[Summary] => Give him a chance.
This was the appeal of acting Press Secretary Silvestre Afable yesterday as he tried to fend off criticism of the recent appointment by President Arroyo of outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Leandro Mendoza as transportation and communications secretary.
"They should give the benefit of the doubt to Secretary Mendoza," Afable said. "We would like also to say that the President has the authority and responsibility of choosing and in the end she is the one responsible for the performance of her Cabinet members."

[Title] => Tax sa text message, malaking kalokohan

[Title] => NTC irereklamo sa korte dahil sa free text reduction
