He singled out Fil-Am Kelly Williams of Oakland University and University of the East forward Nino (K. G.) Canaleta as probable recruits from the non-Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) sector.

Reyes attended the National Association of Basketball Coaches convention in St. Louis, Missouri, and signed up for eight clinics in four days then watched the practices of the NCAA Division I Final Four teams before proceeding to Detroit last April 4.
Reyes visit to the Pistons camp was arranged by Browns executive assistant Marivic Lardizabal, a Filipina.
