MANILA, Philippines - Power utility Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) warned yesterday that the continuing increase in electricity demand could lead to unavoidable power outages.

Contingency measures are already in place in case their facilities get affected by pyrotechnics and firecracker explosions, Cuna added.
