                    [Summary] => Two children and a 21-year-old amputee with Down’s Syndrome who survived a super typhoon were abducted from the Redemptorist Chuch compound in Baclaran Thursday night.


The victims were survivors of typhoon Reming and had been airlifted from Albay province in the Bicol region to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) for emergency medical treatment.


Katrina de Leon, 37, of Barangay San Roque, Manlilipot, Albay, sister and aunt of the victims, believes her wards were abducted by syndicates that force children and the disabled into  begging.

                    [Summary] => ZAMBOANGA CITY — A wooden-hulled ferry with 70 people on board has been missing for five days in the Sulu Sea and is believed to have sunk, military and Coast Guard officials said yesterday.


Lt. Col. Danilo Servando, spokesman for the Southern Command’s civil affairs office, said the ML Sugar Diane-Z had cargo consisting of 700 sacks of copra or dried coconut meat bound for Zamboanga City when it developed engine trouble in rough weather around midnight of Jan. 28.
